Discover the beautiful Lake Starnberg and see the spot where King Ludwig II died. On this private half-day excursion, you will feel like and also be guided by a local Bavarian.

The trip includes pick up & drop off at your hotel/private accommodation, a boat trip and a delicious typical Bavarian lunch (which Bavarians call: Brotzeit) with lake view.

Enjoy an exclusive excursion - without any other participants - on the traces of Ludwig II Otto Friedrich Wilhelm von Wittelsbach, King of Bavaria. The truly royal history tour starts in the morning with pick up at your Munich city hotel or private accommodation. Drinks and snacks will be waiting for you in the comfortable vehicle.

As soon as we have arrived at the beautiful Lake Starnberg, a popular venue for Munich´s rich and famous, we have the option to go on a motorboat tour or explore the lake on pedal boats on our own. Either way, you will get interesting background knowledge about the lake itself and the surrounding area. Fact: Did you know that, until 1962 the lake was called "Würmsee" (Lake Würm)?

After exploring the lake from the water, we will stop at one of the locals´ popular restaurants to enjoy a delicious typical Bavarian lunch with a cool draft beer – and of course stunning lake view!

If you like, you can refresh yourself with a jump into the cool water, either during the waiting time in the restaurant or after you enjoyed the meal. In case, you will decide for a short bathing session and to get yourself wet, please bring your own bathing suit, including towel 😉 Weather permitting.

Strengthened from a sufficient local lunch, we will walk along the lakeside and I will tell a little bit more about the former Bavarian royal house. Our destination is the place, where his majesty King Ludwig II died mysteriously on June 13th, 1886. The official cause of death is suicide by drowning in Lake Starnberg.
Royal fact: Even today there is still a lot of speculation and rumours about the actual death of the "Kini", who is still revered by many Bavarians.

After this informative walk, we will slowly make our way North towards Munich - back to the agreed starting point, or hotel/accommodation!

I am not a professional photographer! However, I will do my best to take nice snapshots of our trip.

By the way: If you wish, the tour can be designed according to your wishes, special ideas or particular focus - tailor-made themes or experiences are also possible.
