Your Journey Day by Day

Day 1: Rothenburg ob der Tauber – Bavaria’s Most Romantic Medieval Town

Our journey begins with a comfortable pickup from your Munich accommodation as we travel north into Franconia.

Our first destination is the spectacular medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of the most picturesque towns in Europe.

Encircled by perfectly preserved city walls, Rothenburg feels like stepping into a fairytale. Timber-framed houses, cobblestone streets, and historic towers surround charming squares that have barely changed in 500 years.

During our guided walk through the Old Town we’ll visit highlights such as the Market Square, St. Jakob’s Church, and the famous Plönlein corner—one of the most photographed spots in Germany.

After enjoying a traditional Franconian lunch, you’ll have time to walk along the medieval town walls or explore the charming shops and cafés.

Tonight we stay in a beautiful historic hotel inside Rothenburg’s medieval walls.

The evening is free for you to enjoy this magical medieval town after most day visitors have left.

Day 2: The Romantic Road & Arrival in Würzburg

After breakfast we continue north along part of Germany’s famous Romantic Road, passing rolling countryside, vineyards, and charming villages.

Around midday we arrive in the elegant baroque city of Würzburg, located along the scenic Main River.

Our highlight today is the spectacular Würzburg Residence, one of Europe’s greatest baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Inside you’ll see magnificent halls, ornate staircases, and the world-famous ceiling fresco by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo—one of the largest fresco paintings ever created.

After our palace visit we’ll enjoy lunch at a traditional wine tavern and sample the famous Franconian wines, produced in this region for over 1,200 years.

In the afternoon we walk across the historic Old Main Bridge, offering beautiful views of Marienberg Fortress overlooking the city.

Tonight we stay in a charming boutique hotel in Würzburg.

The evening is free for you to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the city.

Day 3: Franconian Wine Country & Hidden Villages

Today we explore one of Germany’s most beautiful and least discovered landscapes—the Franconian Wine Country.

Rolling vineyards stretch across the hills above the Main River, dotted with small villages, medieval churches, and historic wine estates.

Along the way we’ll stop in charming towns such as Volkach and Sommerach, both known for their traditional Franconian architecture and relaxed wine culture.

We’ll visit a local vineyard for a private wine tasting, where you can sample the region’s famous Silvaner wines, traditionally served in the distinctive Bocksbeutel bottle.

After a relaxed lunch in a traditional wine tavern, we continue through the scenic countryside before arriving in the beautiful UNESCO city of Bamberg.

This evening we check into a historic hotel in Bamberg’s Old Town.

The evening is free to explore the city’s famous beer culture and excellent Franconian restaurants.

Day 4: Bamberg – The Franconian Rome

Bamberg is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Built across seven hills and filled with medieval and baroque architecture, the city has been called the “Franconian Rome.”

During our guided walk we’ll visit the magnificent Bamberg Cathedral, the Old Court, and the picturesque Old Town Hall dramatically perched on an island in the middle of the river.

We’ll also explore Little Venice, a charming row of colorful fishermen’s houses along the riverbank.

Bamberg is famous for its unique smoked beer (Rauchbier), brewed here for centuries. Those interested can try this distinctive local specialty at one of the city’s historic breweries.

After a relaxed lunch, the afternoon is free to continue exploring Bamberg’s beautiful streets, shops, and cafés.

Tonight we stay again in Bamberg.

Day 5: Nuremberg – Imperial History & Bavarian Culture

After breakfast we travel to the historic city of Nuremberg, once one of the most important cities of the Holy Roman Empire.

Towering above the Old Town stands the impressive Imperial Castle, offering fantastic panoramic views across the medieval city.

During our guided walk we’ll explore Nuremberg’s beautifully restored Old Town, visiting highlights such as the Main Market Square, the Church of St. Lawrence, and the famous Schöner Brunnen fountain.

We’ll also visit the Nuremberg Documentation Center, where you’ll gain insight into the complex history of the 20th century.

After lunch you’ll have time to explore the city’s excellent museums, shops, and cafés.

Tonight we stay in a stylish historic hotel in Nuremberg’s Old Town.

Day 6: Altmühl Valley Scenic Drive & Return to Munich

After breakfast we begin our scenic journey back to Munich.

Instead of taking the direct route, we travel through the beautiful Altmühl Valley Nature Park, known for its dramatic limestone cliffs, hilltop castles, and peaceful countryside.

We’ll stop in one or two charming Bavarian villages along the way to enjoy the scenery and perhaps a relaxed final Bavarian lunch.

In the afternoon we arrive back in Munich.

A perfect ending to an unforgettable journey through northern Bavaria.
