If the weather isn’t cooperating, head to Panorama 2962 at the summit instead. This modern restaurant offers spectacular views whenever visibility allows, and its large indoor seating area makes it the perfect place to enjoy lunch while staying warm and comfortable. The menu features specialties inspired by Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.

At the time of writing, a round-trip adult ticket costs €78. The good news is that discounted fares are available for children, families, teenagers, seniors, and visitors with disabilities, making it a little more affordable depending on your situation.
That said, €78 is still a significant investment, especially for families.
However, in my opinion, the experience is absolutely worth it. You’re not just paying for a cable car ride—you’re visiting Germany’s highest mountain, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views, exploring the glacier, and experiencing one of Bavaria’s most iconic destinations.

Just beneath the mountain lies Lake Eibsee, one of the most beautiful lakes in Germany. Its crystal-clear turquoise water often reminds visitors of Canada or New Zealand and is, in my opinion, one of Bavaria’s true hidden treasures.
If time allows, I highly recommend walking the 7.5 km (4.7-mile) loop trail around the lake. Depending on your fitness level and how often you stop to admire the scenery or take photos, the walk usually takes between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.
Trust me—you’ll want to stop often! The ever-changing views of the turquoise water, the surrounding forests, and the impressive backdrop of the Zugspitze make this one of the most scenic walks in all of Bavaria.
