Along the way, we’ll visit the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle, explore beautifully preserved medieval towns like Dinkelsbuehl and Rothenburg ob der Tauber, discover hidden castles, and experience the charm of Franconian wine country.
This shorter adventure captures the very best highlights of the Romantic Road while still allowing time to explore historic towns and enjoy the landscapes that make Bavaria so special.

Your Journey Day by Day
Day 1: Munich, Neuschwanstein Castle & The Bavarian Alps
Your journey begins with a comfortable pickup from your accommodation in Munich.
As we leave the city behind, we head south toward the breathtaking landscapes of the Bavarian Alps. Along the way, I’ll introduce you to the fascinating history of Bavaria and the legendary story of Ludwig II of Bavaria, the mysterious king whose extraordinary castles continue to inspire visitors from around the world.
Our destination today is the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle.
Perched high above the valley near the village of Hohenschwangau, this extraordinary castle looks like it belongs in a dream. Inspired by medieval legends and romantic ideals, Neuschwanstein has become one of the most famous castles in the world.
We’ll explore the castle and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Alps before continuing our journey north along the Romantic Road.
In the evening we arrive in the enchanting medieval town of Dinkelsbuehl, where we spend the night surrounded by colorful houses, ancient towers, and cobblestone streets.
The evening is free for you to explore this magical town and enjoy dinner in one of its historic restaurants.
Day 2: Harburg Castle, Dinkelsbühl & Rothenburg ob der Tauber
After a relaxing breakfast, we continue deeper into the heart of the Romantic Road.
Our first stop is the spectacular Harburg Castle, dramatically perched above the Wörnitz River valley. This remarkably well-preserved medieval fortress offers an incredible glimpse into Germany’s medieval past.
We then return to Dinkelsbuehl for a relaxed stroll through its charming streets before continuing to the legendary town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Rothenburg is one of the most famous medieval towns in Europe. Its half-timbered houses, narrow cobblestone streets, and perfectly preserved city walls make it feel like stepping into another century.
We’ll explore the highlights of the town, including Market Square, the famous Plönlein, and the medieval town walls.
Rothenburg becomes especially magical in the evening once the day-trip visitors leave.
Tonight you can enjoy a relaxed dinner, explore the quiet streets, or join the famous Night Watchman tour.
Day 3: Würzburg, Franconian Wine Country & Frankfurt
After breakfast we continue north through the rolling hills and vineyards of Franconia toward the elegant city of Würzburg.
This historic city is home to the magnificent Würzburg Residence, one of Europe’s most spectacular Baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We’ll explore the palace and stroll across the historic Old Main Bridge, where locals gather to enjoy wine while admiring the surrounding vineyards.
In the afternoon we continue our scenic drive along the Main River valley toward Frankfurt,.
Frankfurt offers a fascinating contrast to the medieval towns we’ve explored. As Germany’s financial capital, the city is known for its impressive skyline, yet its historic heart remains beautifully preserved.
We’ll visit the charming Römerberg, Frankfurt’s historic old town square, before concluding our Romantic Road adventure.
