The Adventure Begins

Your day begins with pickup from your accommodation in Munich, Berchtesgaden, or Salzburg. Sit back in a comfortable vehicle stocked with cool drinks and snacks as we journey through the scenic Bavarian countryside. I’ll share local stories, legends, and fun facts along the way—because the road to the Alps is just as fascinating as the destination!

Boat Ride Across Königssee to Lake Obersee

Our first stop is Lake Obersee, a breathtaking alpine lake tucked behind Königssee. We’ll board a quiet electric boat at Schönau and glide across Königssee’s emerald waters, passing dramatic cliffs and echoing trumpet calls.

At the Salet boat station, we disembark and walk about 15–20 minutes on an easy forest trail to reach Lake Obersee—a picture-perfect lake famous for its mirror-like reflections of the surrounding peaks.

Highlights:

We’ll spend about 5 hours total at the lakes, giving you plenty of time to enjoy both Obersee and Königssee at your own pace.

Lunch at St. Bartholomä – Alpine Cuisine at the Water’s Edge

After exploring Obersee, we return by boat to St. Bartholomä, the iconic onion-domed chapel nestled beneath the Watzmann massif.

Here, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at the historic beer garden and restaurant—famous for its fresh local ingredients, lakeside views, and mountain charm. A main course and drink are included in the tour.

A Relaxed Journey Back

Getting To Lake Königssee :

From Munich, Berchtesgaden or Salzburg

The full day trip starts in the morning, with pick up at your Munich accommodation. Step into a comfortable, air-conditioned private vehicle embarking on tour. Cool drinks and snacks will be waiting for you in a comfortable vehicle.

Soon, we will reach Mount Irschenberg, the most stunning viewpoint you can experience from a German highway. This motorway route was constructed in the mid-1930s as a „panoramic motorway.“ These now unconventional paths were part of National Socialist propaganda: the beauty of the landscape was exploited by intentionally presenting it as a symbol of the „German Homeland.“

A short time later, after another breathtaking view, we arrive at the largest lake in Bavaria, Lake Chiemsee.

Stop 1 :

Lake Königssee

As soon as we have arrived at the beautiful Königssee, we will first enjoy the wonderful landscape on a boat trip to a total of 2 destinations (St Bartholomew’s and Salet). While relaxing on the lake you will learn interesting background knowledge about the place and the surrounding region.

Stop 2 :

Lake Obersee (Salet)

In Salet the adventure begins with a small hike to Lake Obersee, a true hidden gem just a short walk beyond Königssee. This crystal-clear alpine lake feels like stepping into a postcard — undisturbed, serene, and unbelievably beautiful. From here, you’ll enjoy an unforgettable view of the Röthbachfall, Germany’s highest waterfall, cascading down over 470 meters (1,540 feet) from the cliffs above.

Stop 3 :

St. Bartholomew

Our boat will bring us to the famous St. Bartholomew’s Island. There we will discover the historical St. Bartholomew’s church, the beautiful surrounding area and stop for a delicious Bavarian lunch in a typical beer garden.

To Munich, Berchtesgaden or Salzburg

After a day filled with unforgettable memories in Berchtesgaden, relax as I drive you comfortably back to your hotel in Munich. Sit back, enjoy the scenic ride, and let the day’s impressions sink in. Can I customize my tour?

Certainly – If you wish, your private tour can be designed according to your interests, special ideas or particular focus – tailor-made themes or experiences are also no problem.

Can I change the pick-up and drop-off location?

Yes – This wonderful trip starts usually from Munich. However, in case your hotel or private accommodation is located in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Fuessen, Berchtesgaden, Salzburg or in between, please let me know. I might have to ask for a little bit more, but I’m more than happy to pick you up somewhere else.

Can the pick-up and drop-off location be different?

Yes – I can pick you up for example at Munich airport and drop you off after our adventure at your chosen hotel. I might have to ask for a little bit more, but I’m more than happy to make your adventure as comfortable as it gets.

Do you offer pick-up and drop-off service from the airport?

What types of vehicles are used for transportation?

Up to 3 guests are operated with a luxury SUV such as: a BMW X3, Volvo XC60 or similar.

Up to 8 guests are operated with a comfortable minibus such as: a Mercedes Benz Vito or similar.
