Private Tour: 9 Amazing Experiences—Alps, Culture, Local Flavors & More in Salzburg & Berchtesgaden!
Day 1: Salzburg – Music, Majesty, and Old-World Charm
Our adventure begins with a personal pick-up from your hotel or private accommodation. A comfortable vehicle, refreshing drinks, and some local snacks will be waiting for you as we set off on our scenic drive to Austria.
Welcome to Salzburg!
The birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Salzburg is a city that feels like it was plucked straight from a fairytale. With me as your local guide, we’ll wander through the Old Town’s baroque streets, visit Mozart’s Birthplace and Residence, and marvel at the stunning Salzburg Cathedral. High above the city, we’ll explore the Fortress Hohensalzburg, where you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Salzach River and the Alps.
And because no visit to Salzburg is complete without a taste of its famous cuisine, we’ll stop for an authentic Austrian lunch in a charming local restaurant before making our way up to the Mönchsberg Viewing Platform, a hidden gem where you’ll capture stunning panoramic photos of the city.
Evening in the Bavarian Alps
After an unforgettable day in Salzburg, we’ll cross back into Germany and check into the 5-star Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden, a luxurious mountain retreat perched high in the Alps. Whether you choose to unwind in the award-winning spa, enjoy a fireside drink, or simply take in the crisp mountain air from your private balcony, your evening will be pure relaxation.
Day 2: Lake Königssee – The Jewel of the Bavarian Alps
After a relaxed breakfast, we’ll take a short drive to one of the most stunning natural wonders in Germany—Lake Königssee. Surrounded by towering cliffs and untouched forests, this glacial lake is so clear that it reflects the sky like a mirror.
A Scenic Boat Ride into the Heart of the Alps
Hop aboard an electric-powered wooden boat and glide across the emerald-green waters. Listen as the boat captain demonstrates the famous Königssee echo—a sound so crisp that musicians often play a trumpet or flugelhorn just to hear the mountains sing back. We’ll stop at St. Bartholomew’s Church, a tiny pilgrimage chapel nestled against the dramatic backdrop of the Watzmann mountain range.
Afterward, we’ll stop for a hearty Bavarian lunch at one of my favorite local restaurants before heading to another hidden gem—the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine. Here, you’ll dress up like a real miner, ride a wooden slide deep into the earth, sail across an underground salt lake, and learn about Bavaria’s 500-year-old salt mining tradition.
Back at the Kempinski Hotel, the evening is yours to enjoy—whether that means indulging in a gourmet meal, sipping a cocktail by the fire, or taking a night stroll under the clear Alpine sky.
Day 3: Berchtesgaden & The Eagle’s Nest – A Journey Through History
After a leisurely breakfast with Alpine views, we’ll set out to discover one of Germany’s most fascinating and beautiful regions—Berchtesgaden.
A Visit to The Eagle’s Nest (Summer Option)
If you’re traveling between May and October, we’ll take a breathtaking drive up to The Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), Hitler’s former mountaintop retreat. Today, it’s a historical site with an unmatched 360-degree view of the surrounding Alps—on a clear day, you can see all the way into Austria and Italy!
Winter Option – Dokumentationszentrum Obersalzberg
If you’re visiting between November and April, we’ll instead visit the Dokumentationszentrum Obersalzberg, a deeply moving museum that delves into the history of WWII and the region’s role in it.
Before we say goodbye to the Alps, we’ll enjoy one last traditional Bavarian meal by the lakeside, soaking in the tranquil beauty of this special place.
From here, we’ll make our relaxed drive back to Munich, giving you time to reflect on the incredible memories we’ve created together.
