Instead, we travel slowly through Bavaria’s most charming towns, medieval streets, and storybook castles, experiencing the Romantic Road the way it was meant to be discovered.
Picture this: we wander through ancient city gates, stroll along cobbled lanes lined with colorful half-timbered houses, and watch the sunset from centuries-old town walls. Along the way, you’ll discover hidden courtyards, local bakeries, traditional Bavarian restaurants, and the authentic atmosphere that makes these towns so special.
One of the highlights of our journey is Rothenburg ob der Tauber, perhaps the most famous town on the Romantic Road. With its perfectly preserved medieval walls, towers, and market square, it truly feels like traveling back in time. Staying overnight here allows us to enjoy the magical evening atmosphere once the crowds disappear.
Another gem is Dinkelsbuehl, one of the most beautiful and authentic medieval towns in Germany. Its colorful houses, intact city walls, and charming squares create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that many visitors say is even more magical than Rothenburg.
As we continue south, the scenery becomes more and more Alpine until we reach Fuessen , surrounded by mountains and lakes. Here we visit the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle, King Ludwig II’s legendary fairy-tale palace, perched high above the valley.
