Lake Starnberg is one of the most popular destinations for Munich residents, who often visit the lake to swim, go boating or eat at the local fish restaurant. Enjoy the beautiful foothills of the Alps and explore the beautiful Lake Starnberg by bike.
Enjoy an exclusive excursion and learn more about the Munich way of life, Bavarian history, and Ludwig II Otto Friedrich Wilhelm von Wittelsbach, King of Bavaria.
If you like, you can refresh yourself with a jump into the cool water, either during the waiting time in the restaurant or after you enjoyed the meal. In case, you will decide for a short bathing session and to get yourself wet, please bring your own bathing suit, including towel 😉 Weather permitting.
Refreshed, we drive along the lakeshore and I tell you a little more about the former Bavarian royal family before we visit the place where His Majesty King Ludwig II mysteriously died on June 13, 1886. The official cause of death is: suicide by drowning in Lake Starnberg. Royal fact: Even today there are numerous speculations and rumors about the death of “Kini”, who is still revered by many Bavarians.
After this educational tour, we head back towards the starting point, Starnberg train station.
I am not a professional photographer! However, I will do my best to take nice snapshots of our trip.
